Scandalous Attack On Disabled Pensioner

East Belfast DUP Assembly candidate, a member of the Policing Board, has described the attack and robbery of a seventy one year old pensioner on the Comber Greenway as being a scandalous act.

Robin Newton said,

"This awful incident carried out by a young man who snatched the pensioner's handbag is a thuggish incident that may leave the victim, although not physically hurt, mentally traumatised for some time.

The Comber Greenway is a tremendous asset for the east of the city but needs to be invested in and upgraded to help prevent these type of dreadful incidents. Keeping our older residents safe is a priority while at the same time encouraging them to keep active by getting out and about.

However, the entire community has a role in this and I would call on anyone with even the smallest piece of information to make use of the police 101 number. Only the support of the public can help stop these incidents."
