Brain Injury Matters NI: A Charity Worthy Of Support

ROBIN Newton East Belfast DUP MLA has welcomed the announcement and awarding of £700,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to the East Belfast based charity Brain Injury Matters NI.

Robin Newton said,

“I have admired the work and the dedication of this charity’s staff since meeting with them just about two years ago. I have been pleased to offer practical support to the charity and also encouraged local employers to provide assistance.

The group do outstanding work in supporting those who have suffered a brain injury as they travel their road to recovery. This financial support will allow them to extend their services and aid families across Northern Ireland.

The charity will offer bespoke support to not less than 50 families and staff will work in partnership with Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to achieve the objectives.

Strengthening the family unit for those who have acquired a brain injury is a critical aspect of the work. This will include support and training through group work or as an individual to promote independence plus an online support forum to build stronger families.

Brain Injury Matters NI does first-rate work and the awarding of this money will help secure their work into the future."
