ROBIN Newton East Belfast DUP MLA, a member of the Policing Board, has welcomed the publication of the Board’s Policing Plan for 2015 - 16.

Robin Newton said,

“While I welcome the overall objectives of the whole plan I am especially pleased about the section to improve policing for older people and those with a disability.

Given the number of crimes against older people it was important to include this section to encourage crime reporting.  This section will also include looked after children who go missing and children and young people aged 16 – 25.

Crimes against older people create a great deal of fear and send shock waves of revulsion for family and friends. We need to ensure a full reporting of such crimes and including such a section within the Policing Plan raises the level of policing accountability.”
