ROBIN Newton East Belfast DUP MLA, a member of the Policing Board, has condemned the actions of the two thugs who carried out an armed robbery of a security delivery van today in East Belfast.

Robin Newton said,

“At 5.30am today (13th January 2015) two armed men made threats against van delivery staff at the Arches Retail Park and made off with two bags they hoped contained cash.

Those who carry out violent crimes have no concern for their defenceless victims and the impact their cruel actions will have on the physical or mental health of the victims.

Yet again this is another robbery in the east of the city. Encouraging firms to locate in East Belfast or expand their business is made all the more difficult by such violent actions.

I am appealing to any member of the public who may have any small piece of information on this violent crime to call the police on telephone number 101.  Only by the public working together with the PSNI will these criminals be taken before the courts and put behind bars.”
